Dr Simon Roberts

Simon leads the European social science research and design team for Intel's Digital Health team in Europe. This team has explored  ageing, health and independent living in Europe through a variety of long term and large scale programmes of research and design exploration. He developed the multi-country Global Ageing Experience Study and has most recently  led work on domiciliary care, housing models  and technology.

Simon is part of the TRIL Leadership team, and was a members of the team who developed the centre concept in 2006. His work spans the TRIL Clinic, the ethnography and design efforts and he is also responsible for the TRIL Guest Lecture programme. Simon is a leading proponent of applied anthropology in the technology, innovation and design space and established the UK's first ethnographic research consultancy. He maintains a strong interest in the application of anthropology. He is active in promoting the value of social science enquiry and design in the pursuit of successful innovation and R&D. Simon has published and spoken widely on ageing, technology, ethnography and innovation.

Simon has an MA and Ph.D in Social Anthropology from The University of Edinburgh.
